James Riffe Communications was founded in 2002 when James Riffe, Jr., began doing freelance video and audio production work from his hometown of Narrows, Virginia. Over the years, his part-time agency expanded its creative capabilities to include digital audio production and voiceover talent, graphic design for internet or print, and media consultation.
Prior to returning home, James enjoyed a successful 15 year career in broadcast and cable production and marketing. His broadcasting career actually began while still in high school, working for WNRV-AM 990, his hometown station in Narrows. A graduate of Narrows High School and Radford University, his media career includes work for WHIS-AM and WHAJ-FM in Bluefield, West Virginia, WVVA-TV in Bluefield, West Virginia, WATE-TV in Knoxville, Tennessee, Cox Media in Roanoke, Virginia, WCYB-TV in Bristol, Virginia, and WKPT-TV and WAPK-TV in Kingsport, Tennessee. He has been recognized for his creative work by Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and Giles County Public Schools. In addition, he has served on the NBC Affiliate Promotion Committee, the Board of Directors for the Advertising Federation of the Roanoke Valley, and the Media Studies Advisory Board at Radford University. He is also active in his church and community, volunteering with various local organizations.
